John Fetterman, following in a long line of dipshit Democrats like Kyrsten Sinema, Joe Manchin, and...actually so goddamn many of them, sided with Republicans, instead of attempting to oppose everything this incoming fascist regime attempts, and sponsored the so-called Laken Riley Act, a really shameless politicization of a terrible crime married to a pure power grab. The Act authorizes state Attorneys General (a majority of whom are, surprise, Republicans, although only some of them [harrumph Ken Paxton] are obviously corrupt) to sue the federal government on immigration issues, which close reading of the Constitution would reveal to be a strictly federal purview. Plus the Act requires detention and eventual deportation of any non-citizens charged with nonviolent offenses like shoplifting. Note that a) the Constitution applies to non-citizens within the United States and b) it has a thing called due process which this legislation ignores.

Fetterman is not the only Democratic opportunist in this Senate: 48 Dems crossed the aisle to shit on the Constitution and thus hopefully earn anti-immigrant bona fides during this moment when public opinion seems anti-immigrant. Of course we all know that the public is fickle and probably won't give a shit about immigration just a few months from now, on top of which no Democrat in history seems to have succeeded by moving to the right [harrumph Kamala Harris], but whatever, let's detain and deport some furriners, people!
