I don't think we consider enough just how much of the MAGA agenda, and right-wing activity more generally, is simply a middle finger to the world. Much of what they do is just to show the impotence of all the so-called power structures in the United States. Like, no, I don't have to allow your Supreme Court nominee to be appointed. I don't need to seat your Representative. I don't need to go through the Justice Department’s Office of the Pardon Attorney. I don't need permission to go to war, knock down the White House, put my name on any building I want, cut down those trees. These aren't even dares. They're done. There's no "Try and stop me!", there's only "What are you gonna do about it?"

And the answer is, almost always, "Nothing."
