Hippo: Lots of people are weighing in on the Signal scandal. There's not much to add that hasn't already been said. Hippo: Yes, it's incredibly stupid. Yes, it's dangerous. Yes, people should be fired, prosecuted, and jailed. Yes it weakens the security of the United States immeasurably when our allies can't trust our administration to not be a bunch of absolute chowderheads. Hippo: But you've got to appreciate their dedication to free speech.

One of the more surprising things to come out of the Signal chat as published in the Atlantic, at least to me, is seeing that these people are really true believers. It's not an act: They really think the Houthi rebels are Biden's fault.

Another issue, which I think is probably very important: These geniuses (who can't even use the proper channels to plan an attack in which human beings will be killed -- ) think the world would be better if nations aside from the United States had the capability to, for example, blow up rebel groups and stop them from blowing other stuff up. So...they want everyone to be armed like the US? Isn't that just a little destabilizing? The last time all of Europe was armed to the teeth was Word War II. Perhaps not the best time to roll back to. Maybe we should also get Japan to rearm? Install a new emperor? Sure, why not?
