Badger: Hello, White House? J.D. Vance admitted to lying about the Somali immigrants in Minnesota. Is that really a pretense for ending Temporary Protected Status? Badger: Are you telling me the United States, the Land of Plenty, whose military budget alone is over ONE TRILLION DOLLARS, can't afford to allow 700 Somalis to stay here? Badger: Is there a reason you can't just say the N-word?

Admittedly, the regime's ending of Temporary Protected Status doesn't just affect the Somalis in Minnesota. Overall it's close to a million people who are losing or have lost their status. That sounds like a lot of people, but in a nation of over 340 million, a million more or less isn't that many. But Trump and his minions have been hammering away at the Somali population in Minnesota because they're an easy target -- dark-skinned people in the land of the whites! -- even though there are fewer than a thousand in the state who aren't citizens.

Just as this is happening, we received news of a couple who were recently deported back to Guatemala, where they were murdered, the fear of which was exactly why they were in the U.S. in the first place. The victims here weren't Somali -- or Syrian or Haitian -- but it's still the sort of thing that can happen to any of these people.

It says something that the right wing thinks our law & order is the best in the world but they don't want certain people to be protected by it. America: The planet-straddling superpower that's so weak it can be destroyed by a few Black and brown people moving to Milwaukee.
