What The Fuck, America?

NEW COMIC TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK, OR WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES

Today's Supreme Court ruling does not, strictly speaking, say that the Trump regime doesn't have to abide by court orders. However, by saying that no court can deliver universal injunctions (which order parties to stop doing whatever it is they're being sued about until the court cases are complete) SCOTUS is essentially saying the Executive Branch can do whatever it wants with impunity for the many years it takes for court cases to be resolved. Now, these universal injunctions have been badly abused by Republicans in the past, who love forum-shopping and have crafted specific districts in places like Texas precisely to bring cases to kick off nationwide injunctions; plus Republicans love throwing together laughably bad cases to shop around to these right-wing courts. I'm sure Dems do this, too, but guaranteed not as stupidly, brazenly, or as much in defiance of majority will.

This leaves us with a judicial system where each individual, across the country, who is harmed by order of the Executive Branch, has to file their own case in order to redress that harm. Over and over. And too bad if you can't afford a good lawyer.

I think the Legal Eagle's gonna be getting a lot more calls.
