The citizens of the United States find themselves in a double bind: If we fight back against these incompetent brownshirts, that gives the Trump regime an excuse to ratchet up the Gestapo tactics; but if we don't fight back, that gives the regime no reason not to ratchet up the tactics. On the other hand, the regime's spokescreatures are calling people exercising their Constitutional rights "domestic terrorists" and saying there have been "rampant assaults on law enforcement", so it seems we're going to get the ratchet regardless of what we do. Maybe Trump wants civil war. I don't know.
