What The Fuck, America?

NEW COMIC TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK, OR WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES

[Sorry if I seem a little off today; I took a bad fall yesterday, spent most of the day in the emergency room, and have, over the past two days, experienced some of the worst pain of my life. No need to feel bad for me: it kind of sucks but honestly other people deal with much much worse every day and even for me it could've been much worse. I didn't even fracture anything! It just hurts real bad. I'll heal. But in the meantime, wow, appreciate it, if you can, how easily you move through the world.]

By now everyone's heard about the United Nations escalator that wouldn't and the teleprompter that gave its life to save you from a Trump speech. Alas, Trump thinks he's a talented orator, so he decided to do his address to the UN al fresco, which is Italian for "showing your ass". By not working from a pre-written speech -- which Trump invariably delivers as if he's being held hostage -- he revealed a lot about what goes on inside his head, and -- we all knew this -- it isn't pretty. During his rambling address, Trump claimed to have ended multiple wars, some fictional, none of which were the ones he campaigned on ending; complained about having lost the contract to renovate the United Nations building (and caused an entire nation to learn the difference between marble and terrazzo); denigrated the UN itself; told the world it's all going to hell; bragged about committing crimes against humanity; railed against renewable energy sources; claimed he's "right about everything"; and whipped out the word "braggadocious".

As I am older now I really have had and do have relatives with dementia and this speech reminds me of nothing so much as a visit with one of them, where they're unsure of where they are or who you are but are very very definite about how whoever bought their house changed the tile in the kitchen when they themselves picked out that tile at great expense because.... And so on. It's incredibly depressing when it's one person but when it's one person steering the entire nation, well, that's something beyond depressing.
