Dolphin: I'm just screaming into the void here but did you know there's a way we can prevent trump from becoming president? It's called electoral nullification. Basically each state's electors can just not vote for trump. Dolphin: It's not as if there aren't legal grounds for this. Trump incited an insurrection, which is enough to bar him from office under the 14th Amendment. Plus he was impeached twice, is a convicted felon and an adjudicated rapist, on top of which he's already ignoring laws regarding the transition of power. Dolphin: It sounds wacky but it's way more constitutional than most things the Republicans have been doing since Dubya was appointed. Dolphin: Hello? Are there any Democratic elected officials in this void? Anyone?

I wasn't sure I bought electoral nullification either, honestly, but the more I thought about it the more I realized this is the kind of loophole the Republicans are always exploiting, when they aren't straight up inventing shit, like not allowing Merrick Garland onto the Supreme Court or demanding the investigation of private citizen Hunter Biden while refusing to investgate private citizen Matt Gaetz. And now Trump is flouting the law again, refusing to get an ethics pledge together for his toadies to sign. I mean, of course, but also...laws?

No elected official would go for this option, but it is an option.
