Out of basically nowhere -- while we're all still digesting the news that Kimberly Guilfoyle engaged in obvious grifting and that, in New York City, ICE shot another man in his car with his five-year-old son and that we're going to be livestreaming firing squad executions -- Trump announced he'd worked out a deal with Putin to buy 300,000 tons of diesel from Russia with another million and a half tons before the end of the year. This is absolutely bugnuts considering a) until today Russian diesel was under sanctions and b) Russian refineries are mostly on fire thanks to the Ukraine War which c) will now be financed on the Russian side by diesel sales! Of course the really important thing is that diesel prices come down before the midterm elections so the American electorate forgets what fuckery the Trump regime has been up to and stupidly votes Republican again. This despite the fact that Trump only recently signed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 which purported to be a "sweeping sanctions package" but which, whoopsie, gave the President control over the whole shebang, just in case, in some unforeseeable set of circumstances, he wanted to end them.

Meanwhile the Trump regime, in almost the same breath, announced further sanctions against the International Criminal Court because I guess consequences for war crimes are bad.
