What The Fuck, America?

NEW COMIC TWO OR THREE TIMES A WEEK, OR WHEN THE MOOD STRIKES

Do I love Cory Booker? I do not. Do I agree with him on every possible political position? I do not. Does he support continuing to send arms to Israel as Israel commits genocide in Gaza using our tax-funded weaponry? He does. Do I think that's bad? I do.

But here's the thing: As bad as Democrats can be -- and they can be pretty darn bad, John Fetterman -- they mostly can be worked with. They believe in democracy, voting, taxation, and working government. Democrats are often bad at their jobs and sometimes even corrupt. Consider, though, that Bob Menendez -- one of my senators -- was forced to resign and then convicted in a court of law; meanwhile Matt Gaetz was allowed to resign under his own recognizance and remains at large, presumably preying on young women even now. For every Bill Clinton the Dems have, there are, like, fifty fucking Republicans that make Jack the Ripper look like Mr. Rogers.

So, yeah, Cory Booker put on a performance. It didn't really accomplish anything directly except raise his profile, probably for a future presidential run. But also: It got Democrats working on something together. It got the base excited. It was one piece of good news in a daily barrage of bullshit. It was someone actually doing something.

We'll see what the long-term effects are. But they won't be bad.
