Least Weasel: We need to confirm for the American people that they do not need to fear for their lives when they drive to the grocery store, or they pick up their son or daughter from school. Mike Johnson, the Keebler Elf of the House of Representatives, climbed up onto a high chair and squeaked out these words -- the first two panels from Least Weasel here -- in regards to the National Guard being deployed to Chicago by his big daddy Trump. Meanwhile the words of Least Weasel in the last panel are from Mike Johnson's own House web page under the heading "Individual Freedom". Of course he lists this under Issues which maybe means these are things he feels need to be curbed? Regardless, it's hard to square the liberty for which the founders of this country fought with using the military as police. After all, "He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures" was one of the complaints in the Declaration of Independence. Hey, John Hancock, Richard Stockton: yield, man.

Also: Where the fuck is Johnson talking about when he says people "fear for their lives when they drive to the grocery store"? You know what the American people are afraid of? School shootings. ICE. Masked agents of the government smashing their windows and taking them away in unmarked vehicles.

I remember not long after 9/11 when New York City suddenly had soldiers in camo holding M4 carbines standing around in the Port Authority Bus Terminal and the Times Square subway station. You know what made me feel unsafe? Government thugs with automatic weapons. I knew we were going down a slippery slope then. And now the National Guard is being called out from red states to blue when we not only don't have terrorists to worry about but we don't even have crime like we used to! Fuck all this.
