Cat: Does it make you feel good to have Elmo say bad words? To do the obvious, childish joke of making the paragon of innocence and wonder set fires or say racist things? Is this the only way to make your hardended, cynical heart beat a little faster? Cat: If you watched Sesame Street growing up, this is not how you were raised. SHame on you. This isn't just about the hacker who started posting as Elmo. This is also about Jon Stewart who, over at The Daily Show, ran a segment where he played his "good friend" Elmo. Parts of it were really funny (especially watching Jon trying not to crack up) but still the whole thing was based in this gross idea of making this icon of children's television say things he wouldn't and, I'd argue, shouldn't. It just rubs me the wrong way. It's lazy and bad.
