Badger: Hello, White House? I have some questions about the North Korea deal that's shaping up. Can you explain how it differs from the Iran deal Trump just drowned in a tub? Badger: The only differences I see are that North Korea gets to keep its nukes and we're not going to verify they're not making more while Iran didn't have nukes and we were verifying they weren't making any. Badger: You can see my confusion. One more thing: Why should North Korea trust the U.S. after we pissed on the Iran deal?

As Max Fisher pointed out in a tweet, the North Korea deal is looking a lot like the Iran deal. Trump dumped the Iran deal; what makes the North Korea deal any better? I'm going to guess it's related to the fact that the right wing in the U.S. isn't especially interested in going to war with North Korea (except probably John Bolton) but they've been itching for war with Iran for years and years. Mostly this is because of Israel. And of course this is why North Korea has a nuclear weapons program, and why Iran had one, and why Trump's approach to both is so ridiculously dangerous.

In case anyone asks, I think the proper approach here is diplomacy with both countries, preferably while making sure neither of them get or keep nuclear weapons. But I'm just a cartoonist.
